Service and Sacrifice: World War II - A Shared Experience

About the Project

Service and Sacrifice – WWII A Shared Experience combines archival footage, photographs, and artifacts to convey the intense emotions and wide range of achievements, sacrifices, and hardships experienced by many Americans during World War II. The Exhibit graphics and layout guide visitors through a chronological/ thematic journey, effectively capturing the narrative. Additionally, impactful typography and color choices were used to highlight key messages and enhance the overall visual experience. Interactive elements such as touchscreen displays and multimedia installations further engage visitors and provide a deeper understanding
of the historical context.

I worked with the JFK director, curator, staff, and the Library of Congress to supply artifacts, information, and imagery highlighting each section.

Creation of interactive Activities include;

-Interactive Timeline scrollbar with lights
-Museum Narrative Push Button Circuit
-Bulletin Board - Tell your Story

The exhibit aims to showcase the lasting impact of WWII on American social and political life. It features various activities, artifacts, archival footage, and images from the National Archive's vast collections. The exhibit aims to convey to visitors the meaning of service, the cost of fighting for principles, and the common cause.

World War II had a profound impact on the lives of every American.
The exhibit "Service and Sacrifice" presents a wide range of achievements, sacrifices, and hardships experienced by many Americans. Japanese Americans fought bravely while their families were interned, and women struggled to find meaningful ways to contribute to the war effort. African Americans, facing racism at home and a segregated army, fought for respect as well as against America's enemies.
